What is ACEO art?

Janice Stork, Artist

ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions & Originals) are affordable mini artworks that may be framed and collected. They are the same size as baseball trading cards (2 ½ x 3 ½ inches) and are a great way to collect affordable art.

ACEO's are fashioned after Art Cards that were popular as far back as the 1600's in France. People used them in place of photographs to capture the portrait of a loved one that they could carry on them. The starving artist might trade an Art Card for a meal or barter for something else he couldn't otherwise afford. Artists often traded them amongst each other to learn new drawing or painting techniques. Today ACEO's have become the fastest growing collectables and can be found on auctions such as Ebay.
